ETIAS does not apply to SA passports; you need the full visa. Expect to show €30,000 travel medical cover, 3 months of bank statements, bookings and proof of ties to SA. One visa covers every Schengen country. The visa fee is €90 for adults, plus the visa centre's service fee. Since 10 April 2026 the EU's Entry/Exit System scans your face (and fingerprints) at your first border crossing instead of stamping your passport; allow extra time, as queues of two hours or more have been reported at major airports.
